Nephrotic Syndrome:
It is a glomerular sydrome characterized by---
*Massive proteinuria
*Hypoalbuminaemia
*Generalized oedema
*Hyperlipidaemia & lipiduria (lipid in the urine)
C/F:
Symptoms :
Generalised swelling of the body
Anorexia
Abd pain
Diarrhoea
Burning sensation during micturition
Sign:
General examination:
pitting oedema
Anaemia
Leuconychia
Blood pressure
Systemic Examination :
Almentary
Respiratory
CVS
Investigation :
Urine R/M/E
*proteniuria ++++
*Hyaline cast
24 hr protein in urine :in children >1gm /M/24 hrs,in adult 3.5 gm /24 hrs
*Microscopic haematuria may be present
*Albumin <2.5 gm/dl
Treatment::
Supportive Care::
1.Blance diet adequate in protein & calorie
2.Fluid & Salt are not restricted unless &calorid
3.If oedema is severe, then diuretics is given
4.Physical activity
5Prophylactic daily oral penicillin against pneumococcal infection
6.Treatment complication.
Specific :::
1.Initial attack-Predbiaolone 60mg/m Body
2.Infrequent relapse
