Definition :It is a condition where the process of abortion has started but has not progressed to a state from which recovery is possible
Management of threatened abortion :
Clinical features :
Symptoms :
1.short history of amenorrhoea, usually 2-3 months
2.Symptoms of early pg
*Enlargement of breast
*morning sickness
*Increased frequency of micturationmicturation
3.P/V/B -brisk red
4.H/o of passage of products of conception
Sign :
On general examination :
1.anaemia
2.early pg
On per abd examination :
Hight of the uterus corresponds to the period of amenorrhoea
On per vaginal examination :
Uterus is soft,
Blood may be seen at the external OS
Cervix feels soft with the OS closedclosed
Investigation :
*Hb% with blood grouping
*urine for R/M/E
*USG of uterus
*VDRL
Treatment :
Bed rest
2.Treatment of cause
*folic deficiency
*abd pain(trimomniam )tab -algin
*HTN-should be control
3.Iron and vitamin B complex supplementation
4.Advice:
Avoid heavy work
Avoid coitus for 2 wks
Re examination of after 1 monthsmonths
