DEFINITION: Preeclampsia is a multisystem disorder of unknown etiology characterized by
development of hypertension to the extent of 140/90 mm Hg or more with proteinuria after the 20th
week in a previously normotensive and nonproteinuric woman

B.Obstetrical management :
--If maternal condition & response the treatment is satisfactory Then Pregnancy be continued up to term

* Induction of labour

SYMPTOMS: Preeclampsia is principally a syndrome of signs and when symptoms appear, it is

Mild symptoms : Slight swelling and face ,abdominal wall
Alarming symptoms:
1.Disturbed sleep
2.Diminished urinary output
3.Headache
4.Epigastic pain

CBC
Management of it:
The treatment is mostly symptomatic
A.Hospital treatment:
1.Rest
2.Diet control
3.Diuretics
4.Antihypertensive
B.Obstetrical management :
--If maternal condition & response the treatment is satisfactory Then Pregnancy be continued up to term
----If maternal condition & response the treatment is not satisfactory
* Induction of labour
* Caesarean section
