Define missed abortion .write down the clinical feature of missed abortion

Missed abortion :

when foetus  is dead and retained inside the uterus for a viable period,it is called missed abortion 

C/F;

1.Persistence of brownish vaginal discharge

2.Subsidence of pg symptoms

3.Retrogression of breast changes

4.Cessation of uterine growth which in fact becomes smaller in size.

5.Non audibility of  the fetal heart sound even with Doppler cardio scope if had been audible before

6.Cervical feels firm

Investigation:

1.immunological test for pg becomes negative

2.Bleeding time ,clotting time ,platelet count  

3.Blood grouping ,Rh factors 

4.Urine for R/M/E

Treatment:

A.Uterus is less then 12 weeks:

 Vaginal evacuation by suction or slowly dilation of the cervix by laminaratent followed by DS &E of the uterus under G/A

B.Uterus more Then 12 weeks :

1. First dilation of cervix then evacuation 

2.Induction is  done by following drugs

      * Oxttocin 

      *Prostaglandins
